Re: Adjusting the post date of new posts
(made to refer us to: Extensions/topic-cement-style)

Though your extension “Topic-Cement-Style” allows resetting the priority (which priority is already automatically set to post date), when we post an older conference call to the forum archive and want it to post to the bottom of the list, what priority setting number do we enter?

We could enter “1” for each post in order of their successive dates; but when we want to enter our most recent call and then switch to posting archived calls again, it would be impossible to maintain.

It seems like finding the right field in the database would be a simpler solution unless we can somehow set the priority for top or bottom of the list each time we enter a new post.

Also, is this function limited to Admin or is it accessible to anyone that can post on our forum. In other words, are there any controls of this extension other than the posting “expand” button?

At the moment the extension only works with positive numbers. Our client, who by the way has granted free use to everyone, wanted it that way.

I understand your problem. The purpose of this extension is primarily to offer the possibility of cementing threads at the top by giving them a positive number, if by chance one or more threads had the same priority number then it would rule the date of the last post, as usual. One could also offer the ability to use negative numbers but this is out of the question unless there is a specific request (paid work).

We do not offer this kind of hard-coded help, the reasons are many but in this case it is simply not something you can rely on, it could be dangerous.

Sure, it is permissions’ based. Admin or moderators or both, your choice.
